Thomas J. Churchill, known as "Church," is an American writer, director, and producer who founded Church Hill Productions, an independent film company located on the Sunset Las Palmas Studio Lot in Hollywood, USA. Together with his producing partner, Aleksandra Zorich Hunt, their mission focuses on creating films and television content within commercially popular genres such as horror, action, family, and Christmas. Church Hill Productions also runs a popular YouTube channel, Church's Hollywood Moments, which has rapidly gained subscribers in under three years.
Recently, Churchill has written, directed, and produced over 18 projects across various genres for multiple companies. Their films have been distributed globally through platforms such as Redbox, Lionsgate, Starz, Peacock, Amazon Prime, Walmart, Paramount+, BET Plus, Tubi, Pluto TV, Plex, Hulu, and Netflix, among others.
This versatility is evident in Churchill’s work, including the creature feature horror-comedy Big Freaking Rat, which was a major hit in Eastern Europe. His Amityville Trilogy—comprising The Amityville Harvest, The Amityville Moon, and Amityville Uprising—has streamed on Peacock for three consecutive years during the Halloween season alongside major studio blockbusters, showing how classic horror myths can be reimagined for modern audiences. Churchill is continuing this legacy with a new horror project, The 3 Killer Pigs, slated for release in Fall 2026, aiming to launch a scalable horror franchise.
Born in Brooklyn’s Bushwick neighborhood and raised in Queens, New York, Churchill is of Italian, Irish, and English descent. His mother’s family hails from Italy, while his father is of Irish and English heritage, both New York natives.
The youngest of four children in a family of six, Churchill received his first award at age five—a "Doctor of Storytelling" from his daycare center. His passion for acting and entertainment began early, inspired by the TV show Kolchak: The Night Stalker.
At age seven, Churchill was among the top five contenders for a role in the remake of The Champ, although the part eventually went to Rick Schroder. That same year, he met film and sports icon Fred "The Hammer" Williamson, whom he would later direct in Check Point and the upcoming action film The Avenging Angel.
The films King Kong (1976), Star Wars (1977), and Superman (1978) sparked his Hollywood dream, which was further fueled by Beverly Hills Cop (1984) and Batman (1989).
While a sophomore at Franklin K. Lane High School, Churchill convinced his father to buy him a full-sized VHS video camera to bring his vision to life. He created The War Master, a film about two teenage cops combating drug issues in their neighborhood. The film won several local awards and earned Churchill coverage in newspapers such as The New York Daily News, Newsday, The Ridgewood Times, and The Queens Tribune. This project marked a turning point, shifting his focus from acting to storytelling as writer, producer, and director.
Today, Churchill is living his Hollywood dream with numerous awards and credits as a writer, director, producer, and actor. His films have been acquired by streaming services, networks, and studios.
He has also expanded into digital content with his own show, Church's Hollywood Moments, available on YouTube. Be sure to subscribe, like, and enable notifications on his channel.
