In recent years, actress Gabrielle Elyse has rapidly gained recognition for her natural talent, charm, beauty, and dedication to her craft, establishing herself as a rising star in the entertainment industry. In 2017, she stars as Hayley Chamberlain (lead) in the horror-comedy series "Snatchers," which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival's Midnight Episodic Showcase in January.
Created and written by Stephen Cedars, Benji Kleiman, and Scott Yacyshy, this eight-episode series follows a status-driven teenager who, after losing her virginity, discovers she is pregnant—with an alien. She teams up with her nerdy ex-best friend (played by Elyse) to combat the extraterrestrial threat while trying to keep her mother and friends in the dark. "Snatchers" is available on Stage 13, Warner Bros.’ new streaming platform. Alongside "Snatchers," Gabrielle appears in an episode of the upcoming Hulu anthology series "Dimension 404," acting opposite Lea Michele, Joel McHale, and Sarah Hyland. She is also featured in the Valentine's Day episode of ABC’s "Black-ish."
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Gabrielle’s passion for acting sparked early. By age 10, she knew she wanted to be an actress and persuaded her parents to enroll her in classes and allow her to audition for local roles. By 15, she had secured notable parts and relocated to Los Angeles with her mother. Gabrielle began her career with Disney, appearing on popular shows such as "Liv and Maddie" and "Austin & Ally." In 2014, she landed her first series regular role as Josie on Nickelodeon’s "Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn." She continued working with Nickelodeon, recurring on the network’s hit series "The Thundermans" from 2014 to 2016. While her time at Disney and Nickelodeon opened many doors, Gabrielle sought roles beyond that realm and achieved this throughout 2016. She appeared on TNT’s "Rizzoli & Isles," MTV’s "Teen Wolf," and later booked roles on ABC’s "The Catch," "Dimension 404," and "Black-ish."
On the film side, Gabrielle stars in the silent short "The Money Tree" and co-stars in the indie film "Good After Bad" alongside Billy Burke ("The Twilight Saga") and Maddie Hasson ("The Finder").
When not filming, Gabrielle enjoys music and comedy, often shopping at record stores or attending comedy shows. She is currently training at UCB to develop her comedy skills. Gabrielle embraces her multi-racial identity and is committed to challenging African American stereotypes and shedding light on racism in the United States. She currently lives in the Los Angeles area.
