Steve Richards is a prolific film producer with a track record of spearheading the production of over 40 feature films. His notable projects include major box office successes such as "The Matrix Reloaded," "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," "Project X," "The Book of Eli," "RocknRolla," "Unknown," and most recently, the hit "Non-Stop."
In late 2014, Richards founded Endurance Media, backed by a $250 million financing structure aimed at producing and financing films with budgets ranging from $20 to $60 million. Endurance plans to produce and finance two to three films in its inaugural year, launching with a strategic partnership with Entertainment One Films, which will handle distribution across multiple markets.
With over two decades of experience, Richards has served as Co-President and COO, providing leadership in production, corporate management, financial structuring, capital raising, and strategic business development.
From 1995 to 2014, Richards led Silver Pictures through a prolific era, overseeing the production and distribution of numerous blockbuster films, including the iconic "Matrix" trilogy and the successful "Sherlock Holmes" series. Under his leadership, Silver Pictures evolved from a studio-based operation into a dynamic boutique production and distribution company, generating more than $5 billion in global box office revenue. Richards expanded the company’s partnerships and cultivated key relationships with major players across entertainment, media, and other industries, such as Universal Pictures, Warner Bros., Warner Home Video, Cartoon Network, Village Roadshow, HBO, Mercedes Benz, Heineken, and GM. In 2012, he established a significant strategic alliance with StudioCanal, securing a first-look, multi-year film production deal to produce up to six feature films distributed in the U.S. by Universal Pictures.
During his time at Silver Pictures, Richards also structured a $240 million film portfolio fund involving various institutional investors and lenders to produce over ten feature films with global distribution by Warner Bros.
Before 1995, Richards held management positions at the International Movie Group, a publicly traded company, and at Scott Free, the production company led by renowned directors Tony and Ridley Scott.
