Hannah, the eldest child of Christopher Drew, a cabinet-maker, and Jane (née Church), a pediatric oncology nurse, was born in downtown Toronto. Seeking a quieter environment to raise their family, they moved to London, where Hannah’s younger brother, Harrison (Harry) Drew, later joined them.
She attended Wilfrid Jury Public School and often accompanied her mother to community theatre rehearsals, where Jane volunteered as a costume designer. At age five, during a rehearsal for The Cemetery Club, Hannah discovered her love for acting. During a break, the seasoned actors invited her on stage to recite a poem she had learned at school. Confidently, she stepped onto the stage and delivered her piece, igniting her passion for performance.
Hannah continued her studies at Central Secondary School, securing leading roles in The Grand Theatre’s High School Production for several years, portraying Juliet in Romeo & Juliet and Geraldine, the antagonist in James Reaney’s Listen to the Wind. She also took part in local Fringe Festivals, earning acclaim for her performances as Jo March and Tess Durbeyfield. After high school, she pursued theatre at The University of Toronto, excelling in both classical and contemporary roles, graduating top of her class and securing her first agent.
Her career includes appearances on TV shows such as Zoo, The Flash, and Supernatural. In 2015, she teamed up with longtime friend Karen Slater to write, produce, and star in Baker Street, the first series to portray Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson as women.
