Zack Bennett grew up in the small mining town of Grass Valley, California. At age 8, his 3rd-grade teacher recognized that while his energetic and loud nature wasn’t ideal for the classroom, it was perfect for performing on stage.
By the time Zack began thinking about his future career, he was already dedicating all his free time to performing and creating videos with his old Digital 8 camcorder. He taught himself editing on an early Final Cut system by his freshman year of high school, clearly showing his passion for filmmaking from a young age.
When the chance arose, Bennett took a leap of faith, graduating high school early at 16 and moving to Los Angeles for pilot season. Within three months, he landed his first professional acting role in a commercial directed by acclaimed filmmaker John Seale (Rain Man, Dead Poets Society, Mad Max: Fury Road).
From there, Zack’s career took off. He has spent over a decade working professionally in Los Angeles, acting in numerous feature films, shorts, commercials, and television projects. He has collaborated with esteemed talents such as Faye Dunaway (Chinatown, Network), Ed Asner (The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Up), and Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious, Stealth), among many others.
Bennett honed his craft under the guidance of renowned acting coaches D.W. Brown and Elaine Williams at the Joanne Baron/D.W. Brown studio, a place known for nurturing talents like Halle Berry, Robin Wright, Jeff Goldblum, and Patrick Dempsey.
His interest in filmmaking expanded behind the camera when he teamed up with lifelong friend Kevin Schlanser to produce and direct their first feature-length documentary, "The Ataxian."
Much like acting, Zack became deeply engaged in production, dedicating thousands of hours to mastering the technical side of filmmaking. This dedication has allowed him to build strong relationships with world-class artists, including Hall of Fame musician Jason Newsted (Metallica), dancers Andrea Schermoly (Netherlands Dance Theatre) and Ashley Bouder (New York City Ballet), as well as numerous other actors, musicians, and creatives.
Bennett expresses profound gratitude for the opportunities he’s received, crediting Valerie McCaffrey (American History X, Babe, Hard Candy) and Sean Michael Beyer (Down the P.C.H., Poor Paul) for their significant personal and professional influence in his life.
