David A. Jackson is the Founder and President of the global film and television production and distribution companies Showcase Entertainment, Showcase For Kids, and SC Global Media (The SC Group). Showcase is a member of the Independent Film and Television Alliance (IFTA) and participates annually in major film and television markets such as AFM, the Cannes Film Festival, Berlin, NATPE, MIP TV, and MIPCOM. Recognized by a leading international trade publication for its excellent industry reputation, Showcase has, over more than two decades, successfully marketed over 300 feature films and television series worldwide across all media, featuring stars like Ben Affleck, Sean Penn, Hilary Swank, Tobey Maguire, Debra Messing, Kathy Bates, Kiefer Sutherland, Christopher Walken, Colin Firth, and Robert Downey Jr.
The productions cover a wide range of genres, with Jackson’s global clients including Columbia/Tristar, Buena Vista, MGM, New Line, Lionsgate, HBO, Showtime, Sony Pictures Television, Lifetime, Oxygen, Sy Fy, Village Roadshow, Endemol, Nordisk, 20th Century Fox, BBC, BSkyB, TF1, Canal +, RTL, ZDF, Pro Sieben, Antena 3, Mediaset, Miko/NHK, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, HBO Ole, and Cartoon Network, among others.
Previously, Jackson co-founded Curb/Esquire Films (now Curb Communications), where he also served as President. He was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Curb/Musifilm, a partnership that included Universal Pictures. Curb/Musifilm notably developed the acclaimed film "Sex, Lies and Videotape," which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.
In 1990, Jackson negotiated a multi-picture production deal with RCA/Columbia (later Columbia/Tristar), producing films with Morgan Mason ("Sex, Lies and Videotape"), John Hardy ("Ocean's 11," "Erin Brockovich"), and Jason Clark ("Ted," "Stuart Little"). He also produced several films financed through foreign pre-sales. More recently, he executive produced the series "Flight 29 Down" for NBC and Discovery Kids, the animated "Ape Escape" for NickToons, played a key role in producing "The Wannabes" for Starz Family, and produced the feature film "You May Not Kiss The Bride," starring Katharine McPhee, Rob Schneider, Mena Suvari, Dave Annable, and Kathy Bates.
Additionally, Jackson is an attorney specializing in entertainment law. He served as an attorney at Capitol Records before being recruited by MCA Records, where he was Vice President of Business Affairs. Later, he entered private practice, representing recording artists, record and film producers, and film distribution companies. Jackson is married to Shauna Shapiro Jackson, Executive Vice President of Showcase Entertainment, Showcase For Kids, and SC Global Media. They have three children.
