From a young age, Meier was passionate about drawing and painting. Without his parents knowing, he contacted the founding figures of Walt Disney Animation: Ollie Johnson, Frank Thomas, and Ward Kimball. Through his love for character artistry, he began an energetic correspondence lasting over a decade, during which the Disney veterans mentored him to enhance his skills. Their advice, "Take up acting to learn your characters," inspired Meier to perform on the local Boston Community stage, eventually launching his film career with Robert Mandel's School Ties.
Meier pursued further training in Film, Theater, and Dance at Ithaca College, studied abroad in London, and then in New York City. Alongside acting, he worked in Production and joined the Directors Guild of America (DGA), leading to his role as Line Producer on the indie feature In My Pocket. He managed the west-coast division of Burnside Entertainment with his mentor and business partner Glen Trotiner. The company’s credits include The Briefcase, Bella, Bernard and Doris, Union Square, and King of Herrings, which won the 2013 Audience Award at the New Orleans Film Festival. Meier partnered with Illusion Industries Inc., a special makeup effects and independent production company, serving as Studio Liaison and Head of Physical Production with the title Executive Vice President / Staff Line Producer. There, he helped oversee builds on TV shows such as Sons of Anarchy and Southland and films including Smurfs 1 & 2, Transformers 3, The East, Devil's Pass, Fright Night 2, The Iceman, Stalingrad, and G.I. Joe 2, while managing production, financing, delivery, and distribution for all Illusion projects.
Meier eventually left Illusion to return to working closely with cast and crew on set. He produced the feature film Cooties alongside Josh Waller, Elijah Wood, Leigh Whannell, and Ian Brennan. The film was selected for the Sundance Film Festival and was acquired by Lionsgate for domestic theatrical release. This was followed by producing the series The Maker Shack Agency for Amazon Studios and Electus. He then collaborated with Trevor Macy at Intrepid Pictures on The Bye Bye Man before joining Blumhouse, led by Jason Blum and Jeanette Volturno. There, he executive produced Visions starring Isla Fisher, Jim Parsons, and Eva Longoria; the Akiva Goldsman-directed supernatural thriller Stephanie; and the box office success Happy Death Day with Christopher Landon.
In 2017, Meier began working with Amblin Partners as Executive Producer on several features including The Turning starring Mackenzie Davis and Finn Wolfhard; A Dog's Journey directed by Gail Mancuso and starring Dennis Quaid; the LA unit of Finch starring Tom Hanks; and Easter Sunday starring Jo Koy. This work led to his role as Executive Producer on Amblin’s first Netflix collaboration, Carry On, starring Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.
After seven years with Amblin, Meier worked on three titles with 20th Century Studios: Ella McCay, The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, and Send Help. He recently began collaborating with Apple Studios on Sponsor, a project featuring Jason Segel and directed by James Ponsoldt.
