Ross King, born in Scotland and based in Los Angeles, is one of Britain's most dynamic and versatile performers. An award-winning actor on stage, screen, and radio, he made his theatrical debut at age 5, his first radio broadcast at 15, and his television debut at 17.
During his five years as Entertainment Correspondent for KTLA's prime-time news, he earned four News Emmys and a Golden Mic Award. He appears daily across the UK and Europe as a Los Angeles Correspondent for ITV's Good Morning Britain (2014) and the Lorraine Kelly show, Lorraine (2001). In Australia, Ross frequently features on Channel 9 News and A Current Affair (1971). He also regularly hosts awards ceremonies and events, including VH1's Critics Choice Movie Awards and the nationally televised Hollywood Christmas Parade. Ross is the voice of American Express in the UK, though he can't pay off your balance.
His extensive national television career began when he was selected from over 3,600 candidates to host ITV's Young Krypton (1988). Since then, he has hosted nearly 30 TV series for BBC, ITV, and SKY. He also anchored BBC's Pebble Mill at One (1972), a live daily entertainment show. Over five years on Pebble Mill, he traveled worldwide covering events like the Academy Awards and the Cannes Film Festival.
King’s relaxed and informal interviewing style has earned him conversations with Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Brad Pitt, Clint Eastwood, Johnny Depp, Halle Berry, Jennifer Aniston, Justin Bieber, every James Bond actor, and even former Prime Minister Tony Blair. His extensive work earned him a Recognition Award from The Variety Club of Great Britain. He has reported from The Grammys, The Tonys, The Emmys, and the Academy Awards.
An accomplished actor, King’s film credits include Maleficent (2014), The Day After Tomorrow (2004), and Half Past Dead (2002), among others. His numerous UK musical and stage roles include a lead in the West End production of Summer Holiday and the Olivier Award-nominated Dick Whittington, directed by Gillian Lynne (Phantom of the Opera). He is also known for his acclaimed portrayal of "Frank-n-Furter" in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Ross became Britain’s youngest-ever daytime host at Scotland's Radio Clyde and has since hosted The Euro Chart for the UK, as well as numerous shows on Capital Radio and BBC National Radio 5. He has won two prestigious Sony Awards among many others for his radio work. He also fulfilled a lifelong ambition by co-hosting the American Weekly Top 40 Countdown with legendary DJ Rick Dees. His radio show, The King in LA, is currently syndicated across the UK.
In 2015, King’s debut novel, Taking Hollywood, published by Pan Macmillan, became a bestseller, reaching #4 on the Amazon Best Sellers chart. He co-wrote the book with Shari Low under the joint pen name "Shari King." The sequel, Breaking Hollywood, was also released in 2015.
