Renowned for his versatility and commanding presence infused with comedic flair, seven-time Emmy-winning actor and spokesperson Rich Skidmore thrived as a TV news investigative journalist long before transitioning to stage and screen. His 15 years uncovering stories in newsrooms provided invaluable preparation for his diverse acting career.
Born Richard Morgan Skidmore in Pittsburgh, he earned a BA in Journalism from The Ohio State University and received an Honorable Discharge from the US Marine Corps. While working as the "3 On Your Side" reporter for KTVK-3TV in Phoenix by day, Rich began his acting journey, landing the lead role of Paul Bratter in Neil Simon's "Barefoot in the Park," which he rehearsed at night. Following three more plays—including "Catch Me if You Can" (as Harry), for which he won Best Actor, the melodrama "Love Rides the Rails" (as Truman), and "The Good Doctor" (as The Seducer and Antosha)—he decided to leave journalism behind and relocate to Los Angeles. Shortly after arriving, he secured co-star roles on popular shows like The Practice, Criminal Minds, and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he has been a recurring principal actor and voice-over artist for over a decade.
More recently, Rich starred in two lead roles playing twins Paul and Don Brinks in the TV pilot Sweet Toxins, held key supporting roles in Google's interactive web series End Game (as spy/handler Pinstripe), and appeared as the Mayor of LA in the pilot Internal Affairs. His comedic talents earned him parts on Comedy Central, including Don Cinespace in Funny or Die, a cop in Workaholics, and an airline pilot in Important Things with Demetri Martin, as well as a cruise ship captain on CBS's The McCarthys.
On the big screen, Rich has appeared in the feature film Time Trap (as Rich Pintauro), the short film A Stark Reality (as the Opioid Doctor), and Miss Congeniality 2 (as an FBI agent).
His background in direct, "straight down the barrel" shooting has made him a sought-after national spokesperson for numerous health and financial campaigns such as Victoza, Schwab Financial, Sylmark, and MyoHealth. Rich has featured in over 50 national commercials, including campaigns for Mercedes Benz, Pepsi, and T-Mobile, and has hosted numerous long- and short-form infomercials for brands like Werner Ladders, Keurig/Dr. Pepper, and TriVita.
