Michael Sergio is an Emmy Award-winning director, writer, and producer who has crafted commercials and videos for a wide range of clients, including Continental Airlines, AT&T, Disney, Alitalia, ESPN, Broadway Theatre Institute, ABC Sports, and American Express. He has directed numerous films and television specials, such as John Ford Noonan's "Night Man at the Sardi Building," "Creating the Wizard of Oz on Ice" (which earned him a Daytime Emmy nomination), and the Emmy-winning "Ringling Bros. 1996 TV Circus Special."
Sergio made his feature film debut with the provocative and critically praised "Under Hellgate Bridge," which he wrote, produced, and directed. The film garnered him "Best Director" and "Best Film" awards at the Narrowsburg Independent Film Festival in New York. Additional accolades include the "Regal Cinemas Dreammaker Award," "Best Film" at the Nashville Independent Film Festival, and the "People's Choice Award" at the Atlantic City Film Festival. Released theatrically in May 2001 by CAVU Pictures, "Under Hellgate Bridge" was later acquired by Lions Gate Entertainment for domestic home video distribution.
As an actor, Sergio has appeared on Broadway in "I Love My Wife," as well as in numerous films and TV shows such as Kojak, Law & Order, Loving, and The Equalizer. He has also featured in over 50 national television commercials.
A talented singer and musician, Sergio has performed at many of New York City's premier clubs, including Catch a Rising Star, Greenstreets, The Bitter End, The Comic Strip, and The Original Improvisation, where he played for nearly 17 years. As a writer, he has completed five screenplays.
