Mimi Polk Gitlin produced Thelma and Louise, one of the most acclaimed films of its decade, which received five Academy Award nominations and five Golden Globe nominations, winning both the Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Screenplay. With over 30 years of experience as a Producer and Film Production/Finance Executive, she leads Gaia Entertainment, a company that develops, produces, and partially finances impactful scripted and non-scripted series and feature films. Gitlin executive produced the documentary Following Harry, focused on Harry Belafonte, and produced Freak Power, a documentary about Hunter Thompson's 1970 campaign for Sheriff of Aspen. Gaia's animated feature The Breadwinner was nominated for an Academy Award and won 19 prestigious international awards. Gaia currently has several scripted features in development, including In Amber's Wake, based on Christine Leunens' work (Jojo Rabbit), and Enemy of the People, written by Andy Black (Narcos). Before founding Gaia, Gitlin spent three years as an Executive at Grosvenor Park Media, a financing company involved with films such as PS I Love You, Penelope, Miss Potter, and the Academy Award-winning The Hurt Locker. Prior to Grosvenor Park, she partnered for thirteen years with renowned directors Ridley and Tony Scott, managing financing and production for their companies in both film and television. During that time, she played a key role in securing overall deals with Paramount, 20th Century Fox, and Disney. Born in Ohio and raised in Minnesota, Gitlin graduated from Andover Academy before earning a BA in Economics with minors in American Literature and Film from Middlebury College.
