After graduating from Harvard University, Tyler Spindel relocated to Los Angeles to chase his childhood dream of performing stand-up comedy. Touring nationwide and hosting a weekly show at Hollywood's Laugh Factory deepened his appreciation for comedy as an art, eventually sparking a strong passion for directing.
Tyler's directing career began with viral branded content and commercials for major brands such as Gillette, Macy's, Samsung, Nickelodeon, Del Taco, and Nike. He then transitioned into television, directing episodes of The Jack and Triumph Show, Nick Swardson's Pretend Time, Breaking In, Sing It, A Night of Too Many Stars, and producing and directing sketches for over 350 episodes of Chelsea Lately. In film, Tyler has directed second unit on seven Adam Sandler/Happy Madison studio features and wrote, produced, and directed the acclaimed short film Love and Germaphobia, which earned awards from prominent festivals including Montreal Just for Laughs, Hollyshorts, Funny or Die LA Comedy Shorts Festival, LA Comedy Festival, New England Film Festival, and Milwaukee Shorts Festival.
More recently, Tyler has directed three Happy Madison/Netflix Original feature films: The Wrong Missy, Father of the Year, and The Out-Laws. Each film reached number one worldwide on Netflix for significant periods following their releases.
