Blu Yoshimi, class of 1997, has been an actress in film, television, and theatre since 2001. She made her film debut in 2008 alongside Nanni Moretti in "Caos Calmo," followed by roles in "Piuma," which competed at the Venice Film Festival, "Likemeback," shown at the Locarno Film Festival, and "El Nido," an Italian-Argentine horror film presented at the Trieste Science Film Festival. In 2019, she served on the jury for short films at "Alice Nella Città," a section linked to the Rome Film Festival. In 2022, she completed filming "Resvrgis," presented at Alice Nella Città, and began working on a new series produced by Palomar. In 2023, she appeared in theatres with Nanni Moretti's latest film, "Il Sol dell'Avvenire," showcased at Cannes, and co-starred with Silvio Orlando in "Ciarlatani," written and directed by Pablo Remón, which premiered at the Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto and is touring in 2024. She ended the year filming "Ho Visto un Re" by Giorgia Farina and the short film "Due Sorelle" by Antonio de Palo.
Blu began studying acting at age 9 with theatre companies and, from age 11, trained with Actors Studio members including Doris Hicks, Michael Margotta, Jack Waltzer, Cloe Xaufflaire, Lidia Vitale, and Mary Setrakian for singing. She has followed the philosophies and methods of international schools such as the Susan Batson Studio in New York and Estudio Corraza in Madrid. Meanwhile, she served as a juror for the 2019 edition of Alice Nella Città short films. In March 2022, she graduated from DAMS at the University of Roma Tre, where she conducted an in-depth study of film writing, which she applied in creating the show "L'isolachenoncé," co-written with Gemma Costa and premiered at the Palladium Theatre in May 2023 as part of the "Overground" series. A short film project is also planned for 2024. Committed to a better world, she supports and promotes social causes such as FAI, Every Child Is My Child, and the activities of Soka Gakkai International.
