Rushi Kota shines on both film and television, captivating audiences with his powerful performances and remarkable talent. He recently appeared in the acclaimed movie "Dumb Money," sharing the screen with a star-studded cast including Sebastian Stan, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, America Ferrera, and Shailene Woodley. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film premiered at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival before being released globally. Kota delivered a transformative performance as Baiju Bhatt, the former Co-CEO of Robinhood.
Kota is also known for his standout role as Prashant in the Netflix hit series "Never Have I Ever," created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, where he brings depth and authenticity to his character. His portrayal of Dr. Vik Roy on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and "Grey's Anatomy B-Team" earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Short Form Drama/Comedy.
Originally from the vibrant neighborhoods of Queens, NY, Kota’s story is one of resilience and determination. Born in India and raised by a single parent, he embodies the American Dream through his dedication to excellence. He graduated from SUNY Farmingdale with a double major in Automotive Engineering and Industrial Management Technology, along with a minor in Business Administration. After graduating during the 2008 financial crisis, facing high unemployment and debt, he chose to pursue a different path.
Following his passion for acting, Kota trained in New York and was accepted into Harvard University's prestigious MFA program for Acting. He further refined his craft with a residency at Stanislavski's Moscow Art Theater School in Russia.
His television credits include notable roles in the comedy series "iCarly: Reboot" on Paramount Plus and Funny or Die’s "ESL: English is the Second Language." Additional appearances include recurring roles on NBC's "Ordinary Joe," guest spots on CBS's "CSI: Vegas," Ryan Murphy's "9-1-1," Freeform's "Famous in Love," and recurring on CBS's "Extant" alongside Halle Berry. His film credits include "The Girl in the Pool," "Scrambled," "Make Me a Match," "The Divorce Party," and "The One I Wrote for You." On stage, he has performed in regional productions such as "Guards at the Taj" at Marin Theatre, "Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity" at Capital Stage, and several productions at the A.R.T., including "Boston Abolitionist Project," "Great Catherine," "Blanco Posnet," "Hansel and Gretel," and "Imaginary Invalid" at M.X.A.T.
