Donald Victor Kress, an actor, producer, writer, and director, was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 2, 1946. He is the eldest son of Victor Kress, a mechanical engineer, and Elia Moreschi, an executive secretary. Raised in a supportive environment alongside his brother and sister, Don was encouraged to pursue his dreams and developed a wide range of interests.
Don attended Hurley Elementary and Bogan High School in Chicago before enrolling at Chicago City Junior College in 1965. He earned an Associate Degree in Science with a minor in Business in 1967. He then continued his education at Carthage College, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science in 1970.
After graduating, Don moved to St. Louis, Missouri, to start a career in business and advertising. After several years in the field, he launched his own advertising company, creating marketing programs for major clients such as State Farm, Anheuser-Busch, The American Cancer Society, and Enterprise Leasing. During this time, Don began to explore his creative side more deeply.
Following the birth of his fourth child in 1988, Don returned to Chicago and, together with his brother, co-owned and operated the restaurant Rico D's. Meanwhile, he focused on consulting within his advertising business.
In 2006, inspired by his youngest daughter's interest in screenwriting, Don researched film sets and was encouraged by many who recognized his strong on-camera presence. This motivated him to fully commit to acting. He began taking acting classes and auditioning for various roles as an actor and extra. His first audition in 2008 was with Chicago Motion Picture Studios, where he gained valuable experience and eventually became a key member of the studio.
That same year, Don competed on 'Who Wants To Be A TV Producer,' where his videos "Fitness With Fedora" and "Santa Is A Wiseguy" won first and second place, respectively.
To date, Don has appeared as an actor or extra in over 40 films, 25 television projects, and 10 commercials. He has also worked as an executive producer for Get Lucky Productions and currently serves as President and CEO of California Sun, where he is involved in producing a feature film and several TV pilots.
Don is a creative, humorous, and talented individual skilled in acting, producing, writing, and directing. He enjoys improvisation and aims to continue developing his craft while creating TV and movie projects that resonate with audiences.
