Satinder Kassoana is an actor and award winning filmmaker with an international body of work spanning feature film, short films, and broadcast television. A former IT programmer and post-graduate research scholarship holder in Computer Engineering from the prestigious Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, he made a deliberate transition into cinema, training as an actor and filmmaker while bringing a global perspective to both his work in front of and behind the camera.
His debut feature, Range Road 290 (2023), a crime drama in which he wrote, directed, edited, and played the lead antagonist, earned an official selection on the international festival circuit, including at the International Film Festival of South Asia Toronto, North America's biggest South Asian film festival.
That performance led to his being cast as the lead antagonist in Guru Nanak Jahaz (2025), one of the most ambitious period dramas produced in Punjabi-language cinema.
His role in Late Bloomer Season 2 (2025), a comedy series nominated at the Canadian Screen Awards, proved that he is as comfortable mining laughs as he is commanding menace.
Prior to his feature debut, Kassoana's French-language short Bonjour Ji, examining racial and intercultural prejudice, became one of the most decorated Indian-diaspora shorts on the international circuit, winning Best Short Film at five festivals across North America, including the Vancouver International South Asian Film Festival (2015), the Richmond International Film Festival, USA (2016), and the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival (2015). His genre short Don't Walk Among the Dead (2016), a post-apocalyptic thriller produced with a Telus grant and crowdfunding support, further demonstrated his versatility across styles and formats.
