Miranda Nolan is a British actor and acclaimed filmmaker, director, writer, and producer.
Born and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon, she is the daughter of actors Kim Hartman and John Nolan and cousin to director Christopher Nolan.
Miranda’s extensive work spans film, television, and theatre, with credits including Inception, Dunkirk, The Dark Knight Rises, Witness for the Prosecution, EastEnders, Casualty, and Silent Witness for the BBC.
A member of the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company, Miranda has performed on stage in Stratford-upon-Avon and London’s West End. Notable roles include Letta in Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman alongside Antony Sher, and as an original cast member in Shakespeare’s Richard II starring David Tennant.
She founded Serenity Films, under which she made her directorial debut with Perfect—a film she wrote, produced, and starred in. Perfect premiered at the Academy Award and BAFTA-qualifying Foyle Film Festival, earning a nomination for Best British Short. It won Best Short Film Director at the London Women Film Festival 2025. Miranda also received Best Producer at the London Director Awards 2025, Best First Time Filmmaker at Paris Women CineFest 2025, and nominations for Best British Director at The British Short Film Awards 2024, Rising Visionaries Award at Venezia Film Festival 2024, Best Female Director and Best Short Film at New York Indie Shorts Awards 2025, and Best Short Film at Folkestone Film Festival 2025.
She earned a first-class honours degree in Set Design and Design for Performance from Central Saint Martins College of Art, London. Miranda designed the set for Turgenev’s The Country Doctor at the Olivier Theatre, National Theatre, London, and briefly worked as an art director for the BBC before pursuing acting.
At 23, she produced and starred in a stage production of Rebecca Prichard’s Essex Girls in London’s off-West End fringe theatre.
Miranda holds a first dan black belt in kickboxing and is a qualified coach. She co-founded The International PinkBelt Kickboxing Empowerment Programme for Women and Girls with her husband and producing partner, Marc Edwards, a fight choreographer and international speaker and coach. They have two children.
