Harshvardhan Rane is an actor known for his work in Telugu and Hindi films. His father was a doctor, and his mother is a homemaker. He was raised in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India.
Rane graduated from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College in Delhi, India. He is also an alumnus of the Barry John Acting Studio, where he actively participated in theatre productions.
He has been involved in numerous theatrical projects with Hyderabad-based theatre groups, including an Indian adaptation of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire (1951). Early in his career, he also freelanced with a film production company.
Rane’s acting debut came with appearances in three episodes of the TV series Left Right Left (2006), which starred Harshad Chopda, Rajeev Khandelwal, and Arjun Bijlani.
His first film role was in the Telugu movie Thakita Thakita (2010), which featured Haripriya, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Anushka Shetty, and Bhoomika Chawla. In 2012, he appeared in two more Telugu films: Naa Ishtam, alongside Genelia Deshmukh and Rana Daggubati, and Avunu, opposite Shamna Kasim and Ravi Babu. In 2014, he had four Telugu film releases: Anaamika, Maaya, Geethanjali, and Brother of Bommali.
In Anaamika (2014), Rane played a software engineer opposite Nayanthara. He also starred opposite Avantika Mishra in Maaya (2014) and Anjali in Geethanjali (2014).
Rane made cameo appearances in Telugu films such as Bengal Tiger (2015), starring Tamannaah Bhatia and Ravi Teja, and Fidaa (2017), featuring Sai Pallavi, Varun Tej, and Sarah Uriarte Berry. His breakthrough in Hindi cinema came with the romantic tragedy Sanam Teri Kasam (2016), co-starring Mawra Hocane. He also appeared in Paltan (2018) and Kavacham (2018).
In 2021, Rane starred in the Netflix film Haseen Dillruba as an adventurous lover opposite Taapsee Pannu. The movie also featured Vikrant Massey and was directed by Vinil Mathew. In 2022, the romantic comedy Tara vs Bilal was released, directed by Samar Iqbal and starring Sonia Rathee and Raheem Mir.
