Chinmay Mandlekar is an Indian actor, stage director, and writer, widely recognized for his contributions to the Marathi entertainment industry.
He completed his schooling at St. Sebastian Goan High School and attended ML Dahanukar College of Commerce in Mumbai. Mandlekar began acting in theatre plays at the age of 15. He later graduated from the National School of Drama with a diploma in production. During this period, he directed successful plays such as Bechaki and Sukhanshi Bhandto Aamhi, which received positive acclaim.
Mandlekar made his acting debut in the Marathi television series Vadalvaat (2003) in 2005. He played a significant role in Asambhav (2007) and appeared in Agnihotra (2009). Around the same time, he entered the Marathi film industry with Zenda (2009) and Jogwa (2009).
His performance in the TV series Tu Tithe Me (2012), opposite Mrunal Dusanis, earned him widespread recognition in the Marathi TV industry and made him a household name in Maharashtra. The show aired from 2012 to 2014.
In 2014, he took on the lead role of Saint Tukaram in Tu Majha Sangaati.
Mandlekar is notably known for portraying Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in several films, including Farzand (2018), Fatteshikast (2019), Pawankhind (2022), and Sher Shivraj (2022).
His other notable Marathi film roles include performances in Gajaar: Journey of the Soul (2011), Swami Public Ltd. (2014), Lokmanya Ek Yugpurush (2015), Mahanayak- Vastant Tu (2015), Reti (2016), Sameer (2017), and Halal (2017).
In addition to Marathi cinema and television, Mandlekar has appeared in supporting roles in Hindi films such as Tere Bin Laden (2010), Shanghai (2012), The Kashmir Files (2022), and Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh (2023).
He has also been featured prominently in Hindi TV series including Ek Thi Begum (2020) and Crime Patrol: Khooni Kaun Hai? (2021).
Besides acting, Mandlekar is skilled in writing and producing. He penned the screenplay for the highly successful Marathi film Duniyadari (2013). Alongside Digpal Lanjekar, he runs Mulakshar Productions. Under this banner, he produced the Colors Marathi series Chandra Aahe Sakshila (2020–2021) and the ongoing Sony Marathi series Dyaneshwar Mauli (since September 2021).
He has also contributed as a writer to various television series such as Tumchi Mulgi Kay Karte (2021), Raja Rani Chi Ga Jodi (2019), Bawara Dil (2021), Jeev Zala Yedapisa (2019), Chandra Aahe Sakshila (2020), and The Raikar Case (2020).
Duniyadari became the highest-grossing Marathi film of 2013 and won three awards at the 51st Maharashtra State Awards, including Best Screenplay for Mandlekar.
He is married and has two children, a daughter and a son.
