Larry was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, where his passion for performing first took root in school and church productions. A natural entertainer, he spent nearly two decades traveling the country as the lead singer and front man for a successful quartet. After taking early retirement, Larry redirected his creative energy toward acting, embracing the craft with dedication and enthusiasm.
His screen career began with extra and bit parts in both television and film, including appearances in Rain, A House Divided, Prison Break, Inspector Mom, and numerous student films. His professionalism soon led to representation with Core Talent in Dallas and later Landrum Arts LA in Louisiana. Larry is currently represented by Linda McAlister Talent in Dallas.
Larry has been featured in a wide range of national commercials and industrial projects, working with clients such as Dunkin’ Donuts, the Dallas Mavericks, Energy Depot, the Texas Rangers, HEB, Cabela’s, Radio Shack, Alcon Labs, Ford Motor Company, and the On The Border restaurant chain. His print work includes campaigns for Mr. Gatti’s Pizza, Aero Mexico, and SBC/AT&T.
His film and television roles highlight notable range, including Dr. Bill in American Stud; attorney Tim Badler in Black Mold Exposure; eccentric farmer Michael Mosca in What Is Gothic?; Dr. Charles Brandon in The Sisters Four; Tom Mosely in The Stopping Place; Doc Moran in the western Shroud; and Dr. John Harvey Kellogg in The Genesis of Healing. Larry also appeared as a sheriff in NBC’s acclaimed Friday Night Lights and portrayed Jack Ruby in the Discovery Channel production JFK: The Ruby Connection.
Larry played Reverend Woodard in Richard Linklater’s feature Bernie, starring Jack Black, Matthew McConaughey, and Shirley MacLaine. He continued to build his film resume with roles such as Father Campbell in Humans vs. Zombies and Lowrie in Deep in the Heart. He later appeared in the Tom Hanks-produced feature Parkland, acting alongside Zac Efron, Paul Giamatti, and Billy Bob Thornton.
In February 2013, Larry fulfilled a longtime goal by producing, directing, and starring in his own short film, Amazin’ Grace, which was prepared for festival submission following its release. The film tells the story of Grace, a young woman who grows up too quickly in the Texas Bible Belt.
Larry’s recent work includes collaborating with Robert Redford on The Old Man and the Gun, reuniting with Richard Linklater for Apollo 10 1/2, and appearing as Roy Miller in a recurring role on the Oprah Winfrey Network drama series Queen Sugar. He also had the honor of working with Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, and Leonardo DiCaprio under the direction of Martin Scorsese in Killers of the Flower Moon. Most recently, Larry reunited with Matthew McConaughey to appear in the comedy series Brothers, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
When asked which role or director he hopes to take on next, Larry simply replies: "The next one. I am always looking for that next challenging role and new experiences."
