Linda Carola is an actor with musical talent, coming from a family of professional musicians. So, she's often cast in roles where she sings or plays an instrument as in the Apple+ film WOLFS (produced by and starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt), as the Singing Woman, and in the St. Vincent rockumentary "The Nowhere Inn", as "Mama" who plays harmonica and sings. Recently, you may recall seeing her in Curb Your Enthusiasm's final season 12 as The Judge.
With established musicians in her family (mom a singer, dad and brother guitarist and harmonica player) regularly jamming in her home that included the young jazz legendary, guitarist Pat Martino, and later her brother playing guitar in NYC on Broadway and as recording artist, it only seemed natural that her dream was to be a performing artist. She immediately enrolled in a theater program at Pittsburgh Playhouse after seeing her first Broadway show Sweeney Todd, with Angela Lansbury, a gift from her brother and the rest is history...
Early on, while still in drama school, she was cast in working class period films roles as the factory worker in the movie Mrs Soffel with Diane Keaton, and in a Ron Howard film Gung Ho, as the tough cashier opposite Michael Keaton (earning her Screen Actors Guild card). Later she performed in the movie Kingpin, as the edgy diner waitress opposite Bill Murray & Woody Harrelson.
While working in the theater, and on films while living in New York, she was cast in The PBS American Playhouse production of Darrow opposite Kevin Spacey, as well as a Principal role as the bad, trouble making employee opposite Ming Na Wen, the good employee in a corporate training film.
Linda studied acting, voice and directing at the Pittsburgh Playhouse under direction of Point Park College where she holds a degree in theater. She hosted and participated as an actor in an improv workshop with the late Martin de Maat, co-founder of Chicago's 'Second City' training center.
Linda's mom sang pop and jazz standards of her favorite singers Ella and Peggy Lee. She enjoys singing jazz and blues, playing harmonica, guitar, piano, ukulele, percussion and tambourine as well. In continuing her mom's tradition, she has an ongoing collection of female jazz vocalist that was cherished in her home, keeping the torch songs alive and swingin'.
Linda is a member of SAG-AFTRA and The Blues Foundation, NOW, and the ACLU.
