Laura Patalano began her career in Mexico after graduating from El Instituto de Arte Escénico, where she received professional training. Her recurring television roles include Esperanza Lopez in This Fool, Beatriz Morales in Gentefied, Nana in The L Word: Generation Q, and the voice of Grandma Chata in Victor and Valentino. She has also appeared in Vida, Bosch, The Politician, Undone, Mayans MC, and Shameless, among others.
Laura starred in the award-winning independent film Chop-Shop, directed by Ramin Bahrani, which was an Official Selection at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival's Director's Fortnight. Other film credits include The Imperialists Are Still Alive (nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance), Mosquita y Mari (Official Selection at Sundance), and First Girl I Loved, which won the 2016 Sundance Audience Award for Best of NEXT.
She also starred in the Imagen Award-winning short film You're Dead To Me (2013), for which she received the CMG Film Festival award for Best Dramatic Actress. The short was showcased at over fifty film festivals worldwide and won multiple international honors. Additionally, Laura was nominated for Best Actress at the BronzeLens Film Festival in Atlanta, Georgia.
Recently, she ventured into voice-over work, securing a recurring role in the animated series Victor & Valentino, as well as numerous commercial projects. Mexican audiences have seen her in stage productions such as Una Esfinge Llamada Cornelia, Frida Kahlo, Vamos a Contar Mentiras, and A La Diestra de Dios Padre. Her New York theater credits include Las Hermanas Mirabal and La Fotografia.
She originated the role of Carmen Antonia in Thalia Spanish Theatre's bilingual production of The Ladies Room/Baño de Damas, earning an HOLA Award for outstanding performance and a nomination for an ACE Award.
After spending over a decade in New York City, Laura relocated to Los Angeles. She is a proud mother of twin daughters.
