Lionel Cohen is a prolific, award-winning Los Angeles-based composer who has been creating independent concept albums for over three decades. He has commercially released over 300 albums, has produced countless indie artists in both NYC and LA, and has scored films for Sony Pictures, Lionsgate, Saban Films, Gravitas Ventures, and Vertical Entertainment, among others. His discipline and creativity have garnered him over 500 IMDb credits, millions of plays on Spotify, and tens of millions of views on YouTube.
lionel has scored numerous films, including "First We Take Brooklyn" (a gangster film starring Harvey Keitel), "Mob Town" (the true story of the biggest raid in US history, starring David Arquette & Jennifer Esposito), "Feral State" (a swampy crime thriller starring AnnaLynn McCord), "Blackjack: The Jackie Ryan Story" (a basketball biopic starring Greg Finley, Michael Rapaport & Ashley Greene), the crime drama "I Love Us" (starring Katie Cassidy & Jackie Cruz), "The Engineer" (a spy thriller starring Emile Hirsch), "Tomorrow's Game" (an award-winning time-traveling baseball family film with Paul Rodriguez), "Inside Man" (a 1970s mob film starring Emile Hirsch & Lucy Hale), a Holocaust film, Bardejov (starring Robert Davi), and last year saw the release of "Mob Cops" (a gritty drama about police corruption in the NYPD), and "The Perfect Gamble", which Quentin Tarantino personally praised for its outstanding score.
lionel scored "The Long Long Night", a dark comedy TV series for the Duplass Brothers (starring Mark Duplass), which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2023, and wrote the film-noir music themes for the Vanity Fair podcast, "Love is a Crime" (starring Jon Hamm and Zooey Deschanel). He was also recently commissioned to write original music for This American Life, the iconic podcast with nearly five million weekly listeners. His haunting score for the short animated film Remember Us about the Salvadoran Civil War helped the film win numerous festival awards and qualify for the Oscars. Lionel continues to release genre-spanning albums, including his 18th Spaghetti-Western record, his seventh record of Middle-Eastern Fusion music, and is currently producing several LA-based singer/songwriters.
