David Bercovici-Artieda is an acclaimed Latin-American filmmaker who began his career in television at age six on the popular children's variety show Telejardin in Ecuador. By eight, he developed a passion for photography, learning to take, develop, and print color and black-and-white photos under his cousin's guidance. Fueled by a love for storytelling and visual imagery, David pursued Film Studies, earning a BFA from Concordia University in Montreal and a Certificate of Excellence from Vancouver Film School. He advanced from apprentice to cinematographer and now directs, working on hundreds of film and TV projects alongside top Hollywood actors, directors, and producers. His artistry earned him two nominations for Best Cinematography at the LEO Awards. In July 2020, amid the COVID pandemic, David took on both director and cinematographer roles for the TV movie Pearl In The Mist, marking his official entry as a studio director and leading to multiple directing opportunities. He produced and directed the award-winning short film Boulevard, which received various festival honors, including selection for Content London's From Short to Series program in December 2019. A dedicated children's rights advocate, David co-produced, filmed, and co-edited Think Again, a documentary about youth sexual exploitation that won The Beyond Borders Media Award. From 1995 to 1997, he volunteered as Cinematographer, Interviewer, and Regional Production Manager for Steven Spielberg's Survivors Of The Holocaust Visual History Foundation, capturing Holocaust survivor testimonies now preserved at the USC Shoah Foundation. David is a longstanding member of the Canadian Academy of Film and TV, the International Cinematographers Guild, the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, and the Directors Guild of Canada. Currently, he is developing several TV projects and feature films aimed at amplifying the voices of underrepresented minorities in an industry he deeply cares about.
