Danielle Moné Truitt was born to entertain, embodying the true essence of a Triple Threat. An actor, singer, and dancer from Sacramento, California, she studied Theatre and Dance at Sacramento State University before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue a career in television and film. Truitt began her career in theatre and now stars as Rebecca "Rebel" Knight, the lead in John Singleton's drama series Rebel on BET. The show follows Rebel, an Oakland police officer grappling with personal and professional challenges after her brother is killed by police, exploring the complexities faced by officers of color amid heightened scrutiny over misconduct and police brutality.
Truitt recently earned two Ovation Award nominations: one for lead actress in the West Coast premiere of The Mountaintop, and another for her role in Dreamgirls. She drew full houses at Rockwell Table and Stage with her self-produced one-woman show Overnight Success and performed her solo play 3: Black Girl Blues to sold-out audiences at the United Solo Theatre Festival in New York. Her other stage credits include In The Heights, Neat, Aida, A Raisin in the Sun, and Hair. On television, Truitt has guest-starred on ABC’s Super Fun Night and FOX’s Mulaney. Her film work includes playing Kay in FOX Digital’s feature film ETXR. She also made history as the video reference model for Princess Tiana in the Academy Award-nominated animated film The Princess and the Frog, providing the character’s body movements and facial expressions, as well as voicing the character Georgia.
Beyond performing, Truitt is a wife and mother of two young sons with a deep commitment to community and social change. She founded BE. ETERNAL: The Thriving Artist Series, which supports artists emotionally and spiritually. She produced #MoreThanAHashtag, an event combining open discussion and performance focused on police brutality and activism to raise awareness about injustice. Truitt firmly believes in the power of art to influence hearts and minds. Together with her husband, she co-leads THE LIVINGROOM ministry in Van Nuys, California, partnering with Hope of the Valley to provide meals and encouragement to the homeless, and supporting foster youth and boys’ homes. They also host MY FIRST FRIDAYS, a monthly music, poetry, and comedy event that has become one of Southern California’s most popular artistic gatherings.
