Henry Woronicz has over 40 years of experience as an actor, director, producer, and educator. He has performed and directed at many of the country’s top theatre companies, including American Player's Theatre, American Conservatory Theatre, American Repertory Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Arden Theatre Company, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Delaware Theatre Company, La Jolla Playhouse, The Shakespeare Theatre, Baltimore Center Stage, Meadow Brook Theatre, Indiana Repertory Theatre, and Syracuse Stage. Additionally, he has worked with the Boston Shakespeare Company, Seattle Shakespeare Company, and the Shakespeare Festivals of Utah, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Alabama. In 1996, he directed a Chinese-language production of School for Scandal at the Hong Kong Repertory Company.
His acting credits include Broadway’s Julius Caesar starring Denzel Washington; films such as Primary Colors, Living Out Loud, The Good Catholic, and Ms. White Light; and television appearances on Seinfeld, Ally McBeal, Cheers, Picket Fences, Third Rock from the Sun, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, Law & Order, and Law & Order: SVU. He spent 11 seasons with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival as a resident actor and director and was the festival’s Artistic Director from 1991 to 1995. In 2009, he acted as Executive Producer in a consulting role for the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. From 2009 to 2012, he was an Associate Professor and head of the MFA Acting Program at Illinois State University’s School of Theatre. In 2013, he earned a Craig Noel Award for Outstanding Solo Performance from the San Diego Theatre Critics Circle for his role as the Poet in An Iliad by Denis O'Hare and Lisa Peterson, directed by Lisa Peterson. From 2014 to 2017, he served as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance at Indiana University, Bloomington.
