Peter Broderick is the President of Next Wave Films, a division of the Independent Film Channel that provides finishing funds and crucial support to emerging filmmakers in the U.S. and internationally. Through its production branch, Agenda 2000, Next Wave also executive produces digitally-shot feature films. Notable Next Wave projects include _Blood Guts Bullets and Octane_ (1998), _The New Girlfriend_ (1999), _Following_ (1998), _The Hi-Line_, _Manic_ (2001) (Sundance Film Festival 2001), _Some Body_ (2001) (Sundance Film Festival 2001), and _The Trouble with Men and Women_. Their documentary credits feature _Southern Comfort_, winner of the 2001 Sundance Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary; _Sound and Fury_, a 2001 Academy Award nominee for Best Documentary; _Keep the River on Your Right: A Modern Cannibal Tale_ (2000), recipient of the 2001 IFC Truer Than Fiction Award; Amir Bar-Lev’s _Fighter_ (2000); and Maxie Collier’s _Paper Chasers_.
Broderick has delivered presentations on digital feature production at major festivals including Toronto, Sundance, Cannes, and Rotterdam, and has taught independent production courses at UCLA. He authored a pivotal series in Filmmaker magazine that inspired many to create ultra-low budget films. His writing has appeared in Scientific American, Sight and Sound, Moviemaker, The New York Times, The Times of London, The Economist, and The Los Angeles Times. Early in his career, Broderick collaborated with Terrence Malick on _Days of Heaven_ (1978) and later managed Malick’s production company, Hickory Street. He holds degrees from Brown University, Cambridge University, and Yale Law School, and previously practiced law in Washington, DC.
