Flint Dille has dedicated much of his creative career to working at the intersection of the game and film industries, convinced that these fields are merging into a unified media landscape. His projects vary from highly experimental to widely commercial, with a consistent belief in games as powerful tools for education and creative exploration.
Flint began his career writing and producing television shows such as Transformers and G.I. Joe, while simultaneously authoring interactive novels, including The Sagard Series with Gary Gygax, the creator of Dungeons and Dragons. By the early 1990s, Flint was designing games like Battle For the Future and writing films such as American Tail II: Fievel Goes West, exploring ways to combine his dual careers. His Gulf War I simulation, released on the same day the actual bombing commenced, earned him an invitation to speak at the Air War College’s 'Connections Conference' for seven consecutive years. With the advent of CD-ROMs, Flint contributed to various experimental interactive movies, serving as game designer and writer for Double Switch, a cinematic game, and as director for Terror T.R.A.X., which became a television pilot for Fox.
In the commercial gaming sector, Flint has worked as a designer and/or writer on numerous successful titles that have achieved platinum sales, won awards, or both, including Soviet Strike, Nuclear Strike, Dragonstrike (1993), Tomorrow Never Dies (1999), Dead to Rights (2002), and the Riddick series.
In 2004, Flint and John Zuur Platten made history by selling a game design document as a feature film: Reaper (2005), released by Dimension (Miramax). Both serve as Executive Producers and have secured a 'first look deal' with Dimension.
Flint has authored four interactive novels, five traditional novels, graphic novels, and comic books. Notably, he appears as a character in Frank Miller’s graphic novel 300, portraying Dillios, the sole Spartan survivor of the Battle of Thermopylae.
He holds an A.B. in Ancient History from U.C. Berkeley and an MFA in Cinema (Professional Writing) from USC. Flint has also taught at the Art Institute of Los Angeles, viewing teaching as an opportunity to test material for a forthcoming nonfiction book on media design and talent recruitment.
Flint has been a speaker, guest lecturer, and panelist at numerous venues, including AFI, USC, the Air War College, ICT, DICE, E3, Comic-Con, Gen Con, BotCon, and many other conventions.
