Florence Hartigan is an actress and musician originally from the United States, raised in New Zealand, and currently based in Los Angeles. She is best known for her lead role in Phoenix Forgotten, produced by Ridley Scott (Alien), Wes Ball (Maze Runner), and Mark Canton (The Martian).
Her filmography also includes the animated feature To Your Last Death, featuring William Shatner and Morena Baccarin, Entrance (IFC/LA Film Festival), The Witch of Portabello (adapted from Paulo Coelho's novel), and the romantic comedy Magik and Rose.
Born in Ithaca, New York, Hartigan grew up in Ireland and New Zealand. She began acting early, guest-starring on New Zealand’s longest-running TV drama, Shortland Street. She later secured a leading role in Vanessa Alexander’s Magik and Rose, appeared in various TV shows, pilots, and award-winning short films, before pausing her professional acting career to study film and theater at the University of Otago in Dunedin and the University of California, Berkeley. After college, she trained with renowned New Zealand Meisner coach Michael Saccente, then relocated to Los Angeles to advance her acting career.
Hartigan has trained in improv comedy and writing at Upright Citizens Brigade and The Groundlings, and appeared in Comedy Central Studios’ web series Bro Dependent. She has participated in multiple Funny or Die productions, including writing and performing in projects featured on their front page. Additionally, she regularly performs with her musical improv group, Kaboombox, at venues like UCB, Nerdist, and iO West.
Beyond acting and writing, Hartigan is an active musician, performing frequently in Los Angeles and New York, and occasionally composing music for television and film.
