Tracee Chimo Pallero, born Tracee Ann Chimo to Deborah and Bruce Chimo, hails from Saugus, a small town just north of Boston, Massachusetts. She has Albanian, Irish, and Italian roots. Her younger brother is Kevin Chimo.
In recent years, this young and highly motivated actress has achieved considerable success, earning acclaim from audiences and critics alike for three distinct and compelling roles on the New York stage.
Tracee made her debut in 2009, originating the role of Lauren, a shy, lovable, 16-year-old mousy nerd, in Annie Baker's *Circle Mirror Transformation*. Her "Chaplin-like" physical comedy combined with her heartfelt performance won widespread praise, quickly making her the breakout star of the production. The New York Times described her as "a master of the comic-silent reaction."
Following an extended run at Playwrights Horizons, she captivated audiences once more in Leslye Headland's dark comedy *Bachelorette*. Almost unrecognizable, Chimo transformed into Reagan, a vicious, manipulative, drug-addicted character who prowled the stage with predatory intensity.
She then filmed her first movie, Judd Apatow’s *The Five-Year Engagement* (2012), and spent some time living and working in Los Angeles.
Her stay in LA was brief; shortly after relocating from New York, she was cast opposite Jim Parsons and Jessica Hecht in Roundabout Theatre Company's 2012 Broadway production of *Harvey* at Studio 54. Playing against type, she was warmly received as the buoyant, love-hungry Myrtle Mae Simmons.
The role that would redefine her career came immediately after *Harvey* closed. She was cast as Daphna Feygenbaum, the antagonist in Roundabout's wildly dark and humorous play *Bad Jews*. After starring for four months as this unapologetic and fiercely loyal traditionalist, she has since appeared in more films and had a significant recurring role on Netflix’s *Orange Is the New Black* as the earthy, down-to-earth Neri Feldman.
She completed filming on *The Good Wife* and reprised her role in the remounted *Bad Jews*, which, thanks to its tremendously successful initial run, transferred to the prestigious Laura Pels Theatre in New York City.
Tracee Chimo is a 2013 Rising Star Award recipient and received nominations for the Outer Critics Circle and Drama League Awards for her performance in *Bad Jews*. Her other honors include the 2011 Clarence Derwent Award for Most Promising Actress in New York, a 2010 Drama Desk Award, an OBIE Award, and two Lucille Lortel nominations for Best Actress, recognizing her uniquely exceptional work.
