Kyliegh Curran rose to prominence starring alongside Ewan McGregor in Warner Bros.' intense supernatural thriller, "Doctor Sleep." Released on November 8, 2019, the film was directed by Mike Flanagan, who adapted the screenplay from Stephen King's bestselling novel.
"Doctor Sleep" picks up 40 years after Danny Torrance's harrowing experience at the Overlook Hotel in "The Shining." Still deeply affected by his childhood trauma, Dan Torrance (Ewan McGregor) struggles to find peace. Central to the story is Abra Stone (Kyliegh Curran), a brave teenager with a powerful extrasensory ability called the "shine." Recognizing Dan’s shared gift, Abra seeks him out for help against Rose the Hat (Rebecca Ferguson) and her group, The True Knot, who feed on the shine of innocents to gain immortality.
Together, Dan and Abra form an unlikely partnership to confront Rose in a deadly battle. Abra's innocence and fearless use of her shine inspire Dan to embrace his powers fully, confronting his fears and past demons.
Kyliegh's next project is a lead role in Disney Channel’s upcoming "Sulphur Springs," a live-action time travel mystery set in a haunted hotel. She plays Harper, an inquisitive teen whose classmate Griffin moves into a hotel rumored to be haunted by a girl who vanished years ago. Together, they find a secret portal that sends them back in time to solve the mystery. Filming is scheduled to begin in early 2020 in New Orleans.
Born in Miami, FL, on December 10, 2005, to Traci-Liegh Johnson and Shannon Curran, Kyliegh is the granddaughter of renowned writer and Professor Emeritus Dr. Whittington B. Johnson. She started her professional acting career at age seven, performing in various regional theatre productions with The Miracle Theatre/Actor’s Playhouse in Coral Gables, FL.
At ten, Kyliegh earned a coveted Broadway role as Young Nala in Disney's acclaimed musical "The Lion King." In 2017, she appeared as Lily in the independent film "I Can I Will I Did," starring opposite Selenis Leyva and Mike Faist. The film won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Asian American International Film Festival.
A triple threat, Kyliegh excels in singing, dancing, and acting, and she also enjoys writing. She is a dedicated advocate passionate about supporting early literacy, storytelling in schools, and animal welfare. Her interests include learning foreign languages, baking, gardening, knitting, and crocheting. Kyliegh follows a vegan lifestyle and is environmentally conscious.
