Etalvia Cashin is an actress of French Creole heritage, primarily rooted in the Ivory Coast of West Africa, with a unique blend of Irish, Spanish, and Native American ancestry. Hailing from Houston, Texas, she embodies the Creole woman of the Southeast Louisiana bayous. Raised in a diverse environment, she is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Etalvia’s performance abilities have been nurtured since she began attending performing arts school at the age of four. Her education focused on theatre arts, classical piano, and dance. She is a classically trained dancer in ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary styles. Additionally, she is a former competitive cheerleader and dancer, an academic scholar, and a dedicated thespian.
At 17, Etalvia received a Business Marketing and Theatre Arts scholarship to Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. She moved to Los Angeles to advance her education and pursue a career in film and television acting. Early in her career, she appeared on the set of Star Trek (2009), gaining valuable experience. While still studying, she featured in the 2010 comedy Date Night, starring Tina Fey and Steve Carell. In a lead role, Etalvia starred in the indie film Okechukwu, which received critical acclaim at Warner Brothers Studios during the LMU Film Outside the Frame Awards in 2012. The film was also showcased at the Hollywood Black Film Festival, Roxbury Film Festival in Boston, Texas Black Film Festival in Dallas, and the Pan African Film Festival in Hollywood, among others.
After graduating, Etalvia worked steadily on the sitcom The Neighbors (2013) and the web series Breaking Point, where she was part of an award-winning ensemble cast at LAWebFest. Following this, her comedic talents were highlighted in the feature film Cuffing Season (2013), where she played the lead female role, Chase. She then joined a star-studded cast in Joe Carnahan’s thriller Stretch (2014), acting alongside Jessica Alba and Brooklyn Decker. Most recently, Etalvia appeared as the enigmatic Heather in the comedy-horror film The Sand (2015).
