Biographie
Matt Harrison grew up on 100 acres of land in Melrose, a small town in upstate New York, alongside four brothers and two sisters. His passion for acting began in the 4th grade when he played Amahl in "Amahl and the Night Visitors," and from that point on, he never missed a performance through college at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. There, he also played starting free safety on the varsity football team during his freshman and sophomore years. Midway through his junior year, Matt decided to move to NYC to pursue acting more seriously, marking the start of his journey.
Matt spent seven formative years in NYC, completing Jim Bonney's three-year Meisner Intensive program. He booked numerous national TV commercials and had smaller roles on shows like As The World Turns, The Sopranos, and Sex and the City before relocating to LA. However, the SAG and Writers' strikes led him to pause his acting career to make ends meet. During this 12-year break, Matt worked behind the camera producing TV commercials for renowned directors such as Jesse Dylan, Michel Gondry, Rob Lieberman, Tony Kaye, and Gary McKendry. This experience provided him with invaluable insights into filmmaking, shaping him into a more knowledgeable, professional, and well-rounded actor.
After a decade behind the camera, Matt returned to acting. Over the past 14 months, he has originated the role of Colin in Five Second Chances at The Pacific Resident Theater, starred as Ron in More Guns: The Musical, and recently played Cal in The Marriage Zone at the Santa Monica Playhouse. Other recent stage credits throughout LA include Mike Talman in Wait Until Dark at the 2nd Story Theater in Hermosa Beach, Alan Raleigh in God of Carnage at CAP Theater, all the adult male roles in Spring Awakening, and Franz Liebkind in The Producers at the Morgan Wixson Theater in Santa Monica.
In recent years, Matt has studied at Krater Studios, focusing on intensive on-camera classes such as scene study, cold reading, and audition techniques. He has also won multiple Acting Challenges, earning meetings with numerous casting directors including Corbin Bronson, Tara Treacy, Erica Silverman Bream, Sibby Kirchgessner, Garrett McGuire, Kevin Mockrin, Karina Walters, and Rory Schleifstein.
Matt's favorite charity is Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), as his family has been deeply affected by the disease. He believes that a community of support is essential to endure the devastating impact cancer has on patients and their families.
