Biographie
Since 1981, Mark Beltzman has been involved in acting, writing, and directing. He was a founding member of Improv Olympic in Chicago and the renowned group Barons Barracudas. Mark has both worked and directed at the famous Second City in Chicago, leading numerous improvisational and theatrical productions there and in Los Angeles, including the Second City Alumni Jam. He has also served as an instructor and director at The Second City Training Center, Improv Olympic West, and the Upfront Comedy Showcase, as well as throughout the U.S., U.K., and France. His generous spirit and passion for the art have inspired many young performers, who continue to regard him as a valuable source of creativity and guidance through personal interaction and theater workshops. He remains a sought-after advisor, director, and acting coach for some of the industry's most promising young talent.
Mark, a highly creative individual and experienced ensemble performer, is dedicated to building a body of work that reflects his integrity and commitment to quality. He emphasizes the importance of teamwork and making each other shine as essential elements of ensemble work. He encourages cast and crew to eliminate obstacles and prioritize elevating the text as the core of the creative process.
Mark has gained extensive knowledge about producing, writing, and directing through his performances in notable productions such as Mo Money, Billy Madison, The Wedding Singer, Speed 2, Star Maps, Lovely and Amazing, Employee of the Month, Factory, Seinfeld, Rosanne, Norm, Curb Your Enthusiasm, According to Jim, Cold Case, House, True Jackson VP, The Young and the Restless, and Pretty Little Liars.
His talent for creating "something from nothing" is demonstrated in the outreach program he established in 2006 called "New Choice." Along with a team of seasoned industry professionals, Mark teaches improvisational and filmmaking skills to inner-city youth. New Choice is now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and continues to grow.
