Biographie
Dibyendu Bhattacharya is an Indian actor known for his work in Hindi and Bengali cinema, as well as notable web series. After completing his education at Behala Arya Vidya Mandir High School, he pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree at Vivekananda College. He also holds a certificate from the esteemed National School of Drama.
Bhattacharya made his film debut in 2001 with the comedy-drama Monsoon Wedding, sharing the screen with Naseeruddin Shah and Lillete Dubey. In 2005, he appeared alongside Aamir Khan and Rani Mukerji in the historical drama Mangal Pandey, directed by Ketan Mehta.
He has since acted in numerous Bengali and Hindi films and television shows. He is well-known for his role as Chunni in Dev.D (2009) and as Layak Talukdar in the Hotstar web series Criminal Justice (2019). He has also made cameo appearances in popular films such as Black Friday (2004), Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal (2007), and Chittagong (2012).
Over the years, Bhattacharya has featured in films like Ab Tak Chhappan (2004), Maqbool (2003), Robber (2013), B.A. Pass (2012), and Guddu Rangeela (2015). He starred in the Emmy-nominated Netflix thriller Sacred Games (2018) alongside Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
In 2021, he appeared in the Netflix anthology drama Ray, which starred Manoj Bajpayee, Ali Fazal, and Kay Kay Menon. That year, he also portrayed Inspector Biswa in the TV drama Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega, directed by Soumendra Padhi, earning a nomination for Most Popular Supporting Actor in a Web Series at the IWM Digital Awards.
His web series credits include Selection Day (2018), Criminal Justice (2019), The Gone Game (2020), Mirzapur (2018–2020), Rocket Boys (2022), and 24: India (2013).
Bhattacharya’s filmography also includes Incomplete (2017), Do Writers ki Maut (2018), Section 375 (2019), and Doll's House (2019), based on Henrik Ibsen's play. His television appearances include Aar Ya Paar (2022), Thinkistan (2019), Maharani (2021), and Code Name: Tiranga (2022).
