Biographie
Harvey Silver was born on April 12, 1976, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, coinciding with his mother’s birthday. He was the second of four children. Due to his mother’s young age and inability to care for both him and his sister, Harvey was placed in foster care at the age of five. He spent much of his childhood in Society Hill, Philadelphia. To stay out of trouble and find a creative outlet, Harvey took acting classes throughout his teenage years. His passion for acting grew through participation in high school plays. He was accepted into Philadelphia’s renowned Society Hill Playhouse as part of his high school extra credit program.
After only a few months in the industry, Harvey landed his first screen test for a three-year contract on the now-defunct ABC soap opera "Loving." Upon moving to Los Angeles in 1995, he quickly began working. His first Equity stage role was the lead in "American Medea" at the Mark Taper Forum, performing alongside Tony Award winner and ABC’s "Lost" star L. Scott Caldwell. Harvey also appeared in other Equity productions, including the acclaimed play "Salt on Sugar Hill" at the same venue.
Harvey’s television debut was in a Coca-Cola commercial directed by acclaimed filmmaker John Singleton. In 1995, he delivered a breakthrough performance as a lead in the 20th Century Fox film "The Price of Love," co-starring with Peter Facinelli and Laurel Holloman. The film, directed by David Burton Morris, addressed teen homelessness and prostitution in Hollywood and showcased Harvey’s acting range. Following this, 20th Century Fox offered him his own spin-off documentary film about runaway teens titled "Runaways."
His TV guest appearances include roles on "New York Undercover," "The Watcher," "Beverly Hills 90210," "Beyond Belief," "Brooklyn South," "NYPD Blue," "First Monday," and "The Shield." Harvey also starred in NBC’s sitcom "One World," which aired from 1998 to 2001 and centered on foster children.
Harvey’s feature film credits include the cult comedy "Going Greek" directed by Justin Zackham ("The Wedding," "Bucket List"), alongside Oliver Hudson, as well as "Last Resort" with Scott Caan and "Steel" starring Shaquille O’Neal, among others. Harvey’s ultimate ambition is to win a Tony Award for a dramatic or comedic role on Broadway.
