Biographie
Claire Ross-Brown was born in Chelsea, London. Her father is English, and her mother, though English, has Italian and Malaysian roots. Claire attended the Corona Stage Academy, now known as Ravenscourt Theatre School. She made her acting debut in the long-running successful British TV series EastEnders, followed by films such as Ken Russell's The Rainbow. While at stage school, Claire became one of the first lingerie models for the well-known high street chain C&A. The campaign was controversial at the time because she was only 14, and lingerie was a new concept for girls so young. After several years away from acting to focus on her studies, Claire spent four years working as a headhunter in banking and finance at age 19, becoming the youngest person in her company to hold that position.
Missing her true passion, Claire returned to the screen with a two-year role on the cable TV show Agony in England. After the series ended, she met a Danish man and decided to try living in a new country. In 1999, Claire moved to Copenhagen, Denmark. Though she initially thought it might be one of the worst career decisions, she succeeded where few foreigners had before. She learned Danish, considered the second hardest language to master due to its complex pronunciation, and secured a leading role in the Danish cult series Clown (Klovn). Claire plays herself in the show and is known in Denmark as "Claire from Clown." Clown became Denmark’s most successful comedy series ever, marking Claire’s breakthrough in the Danish film and TV industry. She stars alongside comedians Casper Christensen, Frank Hvam, and actress Iben Hjejle from High Fidelity.
In 2008, Claire released her first album, Complexity, for which she wrote all the lyrics and melodies, fulfilling a lifelong dream. The album was accompanied by several music videos featuring Claire performing her own stunts. She is recognized in Denmark for her athleticism, including kickboxing and marathon running. Following her success in Denmark, Claire aimed higher, taking smaller roles in films such as The Black Pimpernel with Michael Nyqvist and Love Me Forever with Dougray Scott. She frequently appears as herself on shows like Come Dine With Me and MasterChef and is one of Denmark’s main English voice-over artists.
In 2012, Claire appeared in films including In Real Life by Danish director Jonas Elmer and The Stranger Inside, starring William Baldwin and Estella Warren. She also became the new face of Intraceuticals in 2012.
Claire serves as an ambassador for children's charities such as Children and Young in Need, as well as for organizations fighting human trafficking.
