Biographie
Jib Polhemus began his career in the contemporary art world, working in New York and Los Angeles before shifting into the entertainment industry with a start at CAA.
In 2015, he launched source management + production, a literary management company representing innovative directors and screenwriters.
He also serves as President of Simon West Productions, collaborating with British director Simon West (Con Air, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Expendables 2) to produce film and television projects. Under his leadership, the company has developed and sold numerous high-profile projects to major studios such as Warner Brothers, Universal, Fox, Paramount, and Sony, including Black Hawk Down directed by Ridley Scott.
His work has screened at prestigious film festivals including Berlin, Tribeca, Zurich, Newport, Karlovy Vary, Deauville, Fantastic Fest, and Reims Polar.
Recently, he completed production on The Night Driver starring Josh Lucas, David Arquette, and Alyssa Milano. His film Coyotes, directed by Colin Minihan (Grave Encounters), premiered at Fantastic Fest and is set for theatrical release in October 2025.
Currently, he is in post-production on several projects:
- Zealot, directed by Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog), starring Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Power of the Dog) and Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond, In America)
- World Breaker, directed by Brad Anderson (The Machinist), starring Milla Jovovich and Luke Evans
In 2023, Polhemus produced Sunrise, starring Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike) and Guy Pearce (Memento), directed by Andrew Baird (Zone 414, One Way). The film was released by Lionsgate in 2024.
He also produced Old Guy, featuring Christoph Waltz, Cooper Hoffman, and Lucy Liu, directed by Simon West. The film premiered at the 2023 Newport and Reims Polar Film Festivals and saw worldwide release in early 2025.
In 2022, he produced the critically acclaimed Taurus, starring Colson Baker (Machine Gun Kelly) and directed by Tim Sutton (Last Son, Dark Night). Taurus premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and screened at Tribeca, Karlovy Vary, Newport, SCAD, Zürich, and San Diego. Baker received multiple awards for his breakout role. The film also featured Megan Fox, Maddie Hasson, Lil TJay, Lil Meech, Scoot McNairy, Ruby Rose, and Naomi Wild.
That year, he also produced the stoner comedy Good Mourning, written and directed by Machine Gun Kelly and Mod Sun. Released by Open Road, it starred Machine Gun Kelly, Pete Davidson, Becky G., Whitney Cummings, Dove Cameron, among others.
Polhemus executive produced Boundless (aka Sin Limites), an Amazon limited series about Magellan's perilous 1752 circumnavigation of the globe, directed by Simon West.
In 2021, he produced One Way, directed by Andrew Baird and starring Colson Baker, Kevin Bacon, Travis Fimmel, and Storm Reid. The New York Times named it a "Must-Watch" film in 2022.
He also produced Stowaway, directed by Declan Whitebloom and starring Ruby Rose, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Frank Grillo, which premiered in theaters and on AMC+ in August 2022.
That year, Polhemus produced The Last Son, a Blacklist script by Greg Johnson directed by Tim Sutton, starring Sam Worthington, Colson Baker, Heather Graham, and Thomas Jane. The film competed at the 2021 Deauville Film Festival and was recognized by The New York Times as one of the best action films of 2022.
In 2020, he produced the sci-fi thriller Zone 414, directed by Andrew Baird and starring Guy Pearce, Travis Fimmel, and Matilda Lutz. The film ranked in Netflix’s Top 10 most popular movies in January 2022.
For television, Polhemus has developed and sold shows to major networks including CBS, NBC, FOX, FX, TNT, and WB. He is currently developing projects for eOne, Constantin, and Lionsgate.
Outside of work, Jib Polhemus serves on the advisory board of The Bahamas International Film Festival and judges UCLA’s Masters Screenplay Writing Competition. He lives in Los Angeles, California.
