Biographie
Actress, singer, and songwriter Kathleen LaGue embarked on a remarkable path before starring in Razortooth (2007). The third of six children in a musically and artistically rich Midwestern family, Kathleen grew up in a modest two-bedroom home where creativity and self-expression, often through singing and dancing, were encouraged. She graduated with honors from Tonganoxie High School, a small-town school near Kansas City, Kansas.
Although her primary passion was acting and singing in theater, she earned an art scholarship to college and graduated cum laude from Baker University with degrees in Art and Psychology. She then moved to New York City to chase her dreams. Embracing the city's vibrant energy, she joined a rock band, taught aerobics, and modeled for Calvin Klein, Levis, and Ferragamo on 7th Avenue while studying voice and acting in commercials. Her professional singing career began performing standards and Top-40 hits in wedding bands and singing Broadway songs on cruise ships. She toured internationally with Portuguese star Fernando Pereira as part of the trio "The New York Singers," performing to sold-out crowds in Portugal, Brazil, and Atlantic City.
Later, LaGue relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where she refined her songwriting and guitar skills alongside acclaimed musicians such as Tom Bukovac (Sheryl Crow, Faith Hill, Keith Urban), Will Rambeaux (Faith Hill, Shari Austin), and Shawn Fichter (Trisha Yearwood, Peter Frampton, John Fogerty). Their combined talents helped shape her rock and pop style into her debut self-penned and produced album, "Kathleen LaGue," released independently on her label Lioness Records. The album was an instant success, garnering over 250,000 downloads online. Reflecting on the project, she said, "I couldn't have made that record without the community of incredible songwriters and musicians in Nashville." To promote the album, she toured nationally, opening for artists like Counting Crows, Live, Pete Yorn, Chris Whitley, John Hiatt, and Patty Griffin. The USO later invited her to perform for U.S. troops abroad, taking her and her band to military bases in Greenland, Japan, Korea, Guam, and remote South Pacific islands.
Kathleen’s focus shifted to acting when she landed a lead role in a PAX television pilot filmed in Nashville. She was later noticed by a CBS Senior VP of Casting during a Nicoderm CQ national commercial, leading to auditions for several series regular roles before she moved to Los Angeles in 2002. While establishing herself as a successful voice-over artist and leading her own loop group, she also continued to secure roles in feature films. Her recent credits include playing a spirited receptionist in Universal's American Pie Presents: Band Camp (2005), a nurse in The Eye (2008), and starring as Sheriff Ruth Gainey-Coates, the strong female lead in the horror film Razortooth, released by Lionsgate in June 2009.
In 2010, Kathleen returned to her singing career, performing as a lead vocalist with the Angel City Big Band and forming an all-female singing trio called "Fever." She continues to write songs for her forthcoming studio album.
