Biographie
Gordon Rempel is a well-regarded film and television editor with extensive credits on American, Canadian, and international projects.
In the past, Gordon was known as "that guy who worked at the video store," eagerly absorbing every frame of the films around him. As a musician, he discovered that tempo and rhythm are what truly engage audiences. For Gordon, editing blends the core aspects of both passions.
He has collaborated with numerous notable directors and producers, including Todd Holland, John Landis, Allen Hughes (the Hughes brothers), Michael Engler, Tim Matheson, Mel Damski, Norma Bailey, Gary Harvey, Anne Wheeler, Martin Wood, Peter DeLuise, Amanda Tapping, and Sam Egan. His work spans film and television productions for networks such as CBC, CTV, ABC, Disney, Nickelodeon, USA Network, SyFy, SPACE, ITV, Lifetime, HUB, YTV, OWN, ION, Tribune, Hallmark, Stars, Movie Central, MTV, Viacom, Lionsgate, E1, and Paramount.
Gordon received a Leo Award for editing Disney's Upside-Down Magic and for the experimental dance piece Violet. He has also earned multiple nominations for Gemini, Leo, and CCE awards for his editing on Canadian drama series including Strange Empire, Primeval: New World, Romeo Killer, Sanctuary (all four seasons), Whistler, She Made Them Do It, The Weather Girl, and Andromeda.
Together with his wife, Carleen Kyle, Gordon produced, edited, and scored the heartfelt documentary Heavy Heart Laughs. They have also worked jointly on short films such as The Weather Girl, Brazen Berry, and Push Start, along with several music videos through their company, Lotsa Pictures Inc.
As a musician, Gordon performs and records with bands like The Vanrays, Big Top, and The Beladeans, playing Electric Piano and Organ. Whether at the piano keys or the editing console, he understands his role is to keep the energy flowing.
Gordon considers himself fortunate to make a living through his creative pursuits.
