Biographie
Ash Adams is an American actor and award-winning filmmaker. He first gained public attention portraying Johnno Ryan on the popular 1980s daytime drama Ryan's Hope, which aired for three years on ABC TV in New York City. After returning to Los Angeles, ABC cast Adams in the lead role of Stephen J. Cannell's two-hour pilot movie Thunder Boat Row. Throughout the 1990s, Adams remained a prominent TV presence, guest-starring on hit series such as The Young Riders (in the two-part season finale), VIP, Renegade, Adam-12, FBI, Beverly Hills 90210, and Dragnet. He eventually landed the lead role as Max Hauser in the international cult hit series Acapulco Bay, appearing in 60 episodes for Fox/Televisa.
In the early 2000s, Adams shifted his focus to filmmaking. His first two films won awards at the Rhode Island International Film Festival (Roving Eye Documentary Festival) for Best Documentary with The Distance, and the Malibu International Film Festival’s Audience Choice Award for After the Past. He then wrote, directed, and co-starred in the multi-award-winning feature film Once Fallen, alongside Ed Harris, Amy Madigan, Peter Weller, and Taraji P. Henson. Following Once Fallen, Adams produced two further award-winning shorts and optioned White Cargo, a novel by New York Times bestselling author Stuart Woods.
In 2016, he co-starred in the feature film An L.A. Minute with Gabriel Byrne and wrote, produced, and starred in the feature Carbon Canyon. Adams also dedicated several years to developing and directing celebrity PSAs for the Marine Mammal Care Center, helping raise over a million dollars for injured seals and sea lions. Over the past three years, Patriot Pictures CEO Michael Mendelsohn partnered with Adams to produce and finance White Cargo, with Adams directing, and to adapt two novels: the young adult novel Emerge and the graphic novel Valentine.
In 2021, Adams co-starred with Bruce Willis and Luke Wilson in Gasoline Alley. In the summer of 2022, he created the podcast On Being a Gangster, which was picked up in 2023 by Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films as a true crime podcast. Looking ahead, Adams wrote, directed, and starred in the feature film Razor Boy, scheduled to premiere in early 2026. He currently resides with his wife in San Pedro, California, and is represented by UTA.
