Biographie
Maria Stefanova is a Bulgarian theater and film actress, born on October 9, 1937, in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. She graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Art in Sofia. Over her career, she appeared in more than 25 Bulgarian films, including "Little Sky for Three," "Ivan Kondarev," "Carambol," "Yesterday," "All is Love," "La Donna è Mobile," "Friday Night," as well as the television series "Alone Among Wolves" and "Danube Bridge," among others. Maria spent two seasons at the Vratsa Drama Theater and two years at the Rousse Drama Theater. In 1964, during the traditional theater review, she captivated audiences with her remarkable performances. She then joined the Plovdiv Drama Theater, where she met her future husband. They met in 1964 at a restaurant in Plovdiv, alongside five iconic artists—Georgi Bozhilov (The Elephant), Dimitar Kirov, Encho Pironkov, John Leviev, and Hristo Stefanov. A decade later, the director of the National Theater welcomed her warmly, and she joined its stage, already married to Hristo Stefanov. Her debut role there was Nastassja Filippovna in Dostoevsky's "The Idiot." After a distinguished career in theater and cinema, Maria Stefanova retired in 1993.
