Biographie
Jennia Fredrique Aponte is an acclaimed writer and director recognized for her distinctive visual style and daring creative vision, especially in production and costume design.
Hailing from Gary, Indiana, Jennia studied filmmaking at Columbia University and art at the Art Institute of Chicago. Among over a thousand applicants, she was one of only 15 chosen for the prestigious Sony Director's Program, a year-long directing intensive where she apprenticed with renowned directors including Randall Einhorn during the development of the 1970s-themed series The Kids Are Alright.
Her first two short films, Sacred Heart and 90 DAYS, were featured at prominent film festivals such as Cannes and SXSW. 90 DAYS, which addresses the stigma surrounding HIV, has been praised as "a cinematic work of art that explores the human journey of overcoming one of life's most daunting challenges," earning multiple accolades including an African Academy Award.
Jennia identifies as a director who takes a comprehensive approach to filmmaking, engaging deeply in all elements to maintain a strong, unified thematic vision.
Together with her husband Sol Aponte, she co-runs the production company Full Frequency Media. They have created and developed Sacred Heart, 90 DAYS, and Amazon Prime’s Beyond the Talent, showcasing artists like Kevin Hart, T-Pain, Akon, Far East Movement, Estelle, Les Twins, and Miguel. Most recently, she wrote, directed, and produced the Anatomy series, a four-part docu-series for Sean "Diddy" Combs on REVOLT TV.
