Biographie
Alain Blažević was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, to Croatian parents. His father owned a construction company, while his mother successfully managed a restaurant. Raised in Wiesbaden, he completed high school there before moving to Munich to study Law at Ludwig-Maximilian University. Having previously acted in a theatre play, he soon realized that law could not satisfy his growing passion for acting. After reading about Lee Strasberg’s Method Acting, he left law school, packed his bags, and flew to Los Angeles. There, he enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Acting Academy and completed the full program. He later enhanced his training with master classes from Richard Pinter in New York, who was then directing the Neighborhood Playhouse, renowned for Sanford Meisner’s acting technique.
Throughout these years, Alain supported himself through various odd jobs, including working as a herbal salesman at Fair’s, house painter, club bouncer, and the typical waiter, bartender, and restaurant manager roles. He began writing screenplays on spec, one of which led to a job as a ghostwriter within the studio system, a role he maintained for several years. After nearly thirteen years living between New York—considered his second home—and Los Angeles, working on independent films and off-Broadway theater projects, he returned to Europe. Settling in Berlin, he collaborated with a German production company and wrote the screenplay 'Nachtrevue,' which earned him the German FFA Screenwriter’s award/funding in 2005.
Longing to reconnect with his parents’ homeland, he moved from Berlin’s gray skies to the Mediterranean shores of Split, Croatia. In an interview, he described this decision as purely emotional, acknowledging there was no guarantee of making a living as an actor or writer in Split, but he embraced the uncertainty, saying, "Fisherman will do." Croatia, however, had other plans. Within two years, he became a recognized television figure, playing lead roles in several drama series. He expanded his acting career across Europe, appearing in German films and TV series in guest roles, and ventured into international productions throughout Europe and even Moscow.
Today, Alain lives in Paris, France, with his wife Elica.
Raised bilingual in German and Croatian, he also speaks English fluently. With a Slavic language background, he has easily performed in Russian and Polish. Naturally, living in France, he speaks French as well.
He is one of the rare polyglot actors with a universally adaptable face to match his linguistic versatility.
