With nearly two hundred film and television scores and thousands of concerts to his name, Charles Denler's Emmy Award-winning blend of Classical and Modern Composition is recognized worldwide.
Charles earned critical acclaim with an Emmy win in 2004 for his work on "Bentley Creek," followed by a second Emmy in 2005 for his score to "Beyond The Medal Of Honor." In 2010, he received the Jury Choice Gold Medal at the Park City Film Music Festival for his score to the Richard Gere film "Teenage Witness," as well as a second Gold Medal for the film "I Am." In 2011, Charles was honored with the Ribaut Award for Excellence In Music For Film at the Beaufort International Film Festival. He earned a Gold Medal at the 2015 Houston World Fest for his symphony, "Portraits of Colorado." His album "Moment At Dawn" won a Gold Medal at the 2016 Global Music Awards, and his orchestral suite "One Drop Became An Ocean" was a 2017 worldwide radio hit, remaining in the Top 10 for twelve consecutive weeks. His latest album, "Wild Mustang Suite," has amassed over 12 million plays on SoundCloud and secured the Gold Medal at the 2018 Global Music Awards for Best Neoclassical Album.
Charles' music has been featured alongside artists such as Creed, Cyndi Lauper, and Paul Simon. He has released six American Music Company CDs and two Reserve Music CDs. His American Symphony No. 1 is published by Reference Recordings. Additionally, he has published three score books: "The Orchestra," "The Unspoken Narrative," and "Moment At Dawn."
His compositions have been included in productions for National Geographic, The History Channel, PBS, the main themes for Starz! Kids' Television Network, as well as music for Animal Planet, Honda, Coca-Cola, Oprah, Dateline, NBC, NASA, the Colorado Rockies, the New York Yankees, and numerous feature films. Actors appearing in films featuring Charles' music include Richard Gere, Burt Reynolds, Helen Mirren, Susan Sarandon, Daryl Hannah, Richard Dreyfuss, Steve Guttenberg, Louis Gossett Jr., Michael Madsen, Charles Durning, among others.
His concert works include "Portraits of Colorado, An American Symphony No. 1," commissioned by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and "Portraits In Season, Suite for Piano & Orchestra," premiered by the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra. Charles has conducted and performed piano with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2014, he was commissioned to compose a new theme for the Colorado Rockies Baseball Team; the recording took place at Boettcher Concert Hall with the Colorado Symphony and debuted live at Coors Field on opening day, with Charles conducting. According to The Denver Post, his symphony’s use in tourism commercials contributed to an estimated $1.8 billion in new tourism revenue for Colorado. Charles has lectured at film festivals and universities nationwide and serves as a professor teaching composition, music theory, and music production.
