Biografi
Richard Hocutt is a seasoned entertainment industry professional. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he played a key role in independent music distribution, promotion, and marketing across various genres, collaborating with artists such as George Thorogood, Tone-Loe, Run-DMC, Naughty By Nature, NWA, House of Pain, EPMD, Digital Underground, Sublime, Eric B & Rakim, Coolio, Hieroglyphics, and De la Soul.
In 2007, Richard co-founded Directional Entertainment, LLC with director Mark Landre Gould. He produced, directed, and edited over 200 episodes of the TV series "Education A Higher Calling" for the TBN network. In 2018, he produced, edited, and acted as music supervisor for "Gone Are the Days," a Lionsgate-distributed western period drama featuring Lance Henriksen, Danny Trejo, and Tom Berenger. Richard also co-wrote and produced the 2022 indie film "Sooyii," which stars a full Native American cast and was filmed entirely on the Peigan Blackfoot reservation in Montana, utilizing native Blackfeet and Shoshone languages.
He is a co-writer and producer of a Mahalia Jackson biopic currently in development at Amazon Studios, starring Jill Scott, produced in collaboration with Foxxhole, Flavor Unit, and Releve Entertainment. Richard is also developing two true-story dramatic features: "0 Seconds," along with an accompanying documentary "Rise & Breathe Live," focusing on the ongoing veteran suicide crisis in the U.S., and "Red Sea Journal," which tells the true story of an isolated Peace Corps worker’s desperate escape from war-torn Yemen during its first civil war. Additionally, he is working on "Big Bend," a fictional action-thriller neo-western set against the border crisis and the conflict between generational ranchers and violent international drug cartels.
Together with director and partner Mark Gould, Richard co-created "Daddy's Little Girl," a cable true crime thriller based on a purported Midwest serial killer from the 1980s and his troubled relationship with his adolescent daughter, and "Big Mike's Beer Run," a reality TV show focused on the craft beer industry. Both projects are in development under a minimum three-year series deal.
Richard is a member in good standing of the Writers Guild of America West (WGAW).
