Biografi
Hersha Parady was born on May 25, 1945, and grew up in Ohio, USA. She pursued a career as an actress, performing on television and in theater.
Years later, while living in California, Hersha frequently cared for a free-spirited dog named Lightning, who roamed the streets of Hollywood. This led to her friendship with actress Katherine "Scottie" MacGregor, who also looked after the dog. MacGregor was known for her role as Harriet Oleson in the TV series Little House on the Prairie.
When Hersha played Anne Hathaway, William Shakespeare's wife, in a play, MacGregor and her Little House co-star Richard Bull attended the performance. Impressed by Hersha’s acting, they recommended her to the show's casting director as a potential new cast member.
As a result, Hersha was cast as a guest star in one episode during the third season, portraying Michael Landon's sister-in-law. She later became a regular cast member, playing Alice Garvey, Merlin Olsen’s wife, from Seasons 4 through 6.
Interestingly, Hersha’s favorite Little House episode was "May We Make Them Proud," which featured the tragic storyline of Alice Garvey’s infant son dying in a school fire for the blind. Hersha enjoyed performing scenes involving real, controlled fire under the supervision of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Reflecting on her memorable death scene, she said, "At least I went out with a bang and not a whimper."
Previously married to Oscar-winning producer John Peverall, with whom she had a son named Jonathan, Hersha later moved to Florida, where she passed away in 2023.
