Biografi
Juan Fischer is among the few educators and acting coaches worldwide formally trained in Lee Strasberg's method. He studied under Elaine Aiken, a distinguished actress and teacher who was one of Lee Strasberg's protégées. Fischer trained with her for seven years, linking him to a theatrical lineage that began with Constantin Stanislavsky. After studying with Stanislavsky, Richard Boleslavsky established The American Laboratory Theater in New York City, where Lee Strasberg learned Stanislavsky's system. This approach led The Actors Studio to revolutionize acting style and technique globally.
Fischer's first feature film, "El Séptimo Cielo" (New York, 1999), marked his debut as a producer, director, and screenwriter. The film won Best Colombian Film at The Bogotá International Film Festival in 2000 and received a post-production grant from the Ministry of Culture in 1997.
His second feature, "Buscando a Miguel," earned several awards:
- Audience Award, Sydney Latin American Film Festival, 2008
- Audience Award, Cinesul, Rio de Janeiro, 2008
- Best Actor for Laura García, Beijing Film Festival, 2009
- Best Actor for Laura García, Big Apple Latin Awards, 2009
- Best Screenplay for Juan Fischer and Tomislav Novakovic, Big Apple Latin Awards, 2010
In 2019, Juan founded the theater company Espacio Privado with the production of Martin Sherman's original play "Bent," receiving critical and audience praise.
As of 2020, Juan continues to write projects, teach group acting classes, and coach actors.
