Rosilyn Heller / Producer
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Rosilyn Heller attended Manual Training High School before earning a BA from the University of Wisconsin and an MA from the University of California, Berkeley. After a notable career in publishing, she transitioned to the film industry as a creative executive at Palomar/ABC Pictures in New York. She later moved to Los Angeles to work with Peter Guber at Columbia Pictures as a production executive. In 1973, she made history as the first woman Vice-President of a major Hollywood studio.
During her nine years at Columbia Pictures, she developed and supervised numerous acclaimed films, including TAXI DRIVER, JULIA, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, THE EYES OF LAURA MARS, and THE CHINA SYNDROME.
Ms. Heller then became an independent producer at Columbia, executive-producing the beloved family film ICE CASTLES. She went on to produce WHO'S THAT GIRL, starring Madonna for Warner Bros., AMERICAN HEART, featuring Jeff Bridges for Avenue/World Pictures, and THE BEANS OF EGYPT, MAINE, with Kelly Lynch and Rutger Hauer for American Playhouse Films.
More recently, alongside partner Roland Emmerich, she produced TRADE for Centropolis Entertainment/Lionsgate, starring Kevin Kline and Alicja Bachleda. The film premiered at the United Nations, introduced by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
Her latest European production, with Summerstorm Entertainment, is THE DEVIL'S VIOLINIST, a biographical film about Nicolo Paganini starring renowned violinist and crossover artist David Garrett, directed by Bernard Rose (IMMORTAL BELOVED).
In television, Ms. Heller produced the six-hour NBC miniseries CELEBRITY by the late Tommy Thompson, as well as several TV and cable movies including CALLIE & SON, starring Lindsay Wagner and Michelle Pfeiffer; THE KILLING OF RANDY WEBSTER, featuring Hal Holbrook, Dixie Carter, Sean Penn, and Jennifer Jason Leigh; and, most recently, the Lifetime movie BETTER OFF DEAD, co-produced with Gloria Steinem and starring Mare Winningham.
Currently, she is developing a TV dramedy series titled THE BLEEDING HARTZ, centered on a female lawyer who helps immigrants and refugees navigate the challenges of liberation while striving to support her own family.
