Throughout his extensive 20-plus year career, Hawley has earned acclaim as a novelist, screenwriter, series creator, showrunner, and director, receiving an Emmy®, Golden Globe®, PEN, Critics' Choice, and Peabody Award, along with enthusiastic audience praise.
A best-selling author, Hawley has published five novels: A Conspiracy of Tall Men, Other People's Weddings, The Punch, The Good Father, and the recent bestseller Before the Fall.
Hawley launched his television career in 2005 as a writer and producer on the hit series Bones. He then created, executive produced, and showran ABC's My Generation (2009) and The Unusuals (2010). Most recently, alongside the groundbreaking series Legion, he serves as executive producer, writer, director, and showrunner of FX's acclaimed anthology series Fargo. Production for Fargo's fourth season, starring Chris Rock with Hawley directing the first episode, will commence this fall. Both series are produced under Hawley's 26 Keys Production company.
Upcoming projects include Hawley's feature film directorial debut, Lucy in the Sky, starring Natalie Portman, Jon Hamm, Dan Stevens, Zazie Beetz, Pearl Amanda Dickson, Tig Notaro, and Ellen Burstyn, to be released by Fox Searchlight. Additionally, Fargo: This Is A True Story, a companion book to the series' first three seasons authored by Hawley, will be published by Grand Central Publishing in October.
